From Google's early infrastructure to XEN Crypto — a serial builder's journey
Jack Levin is a serial entrepreneur and technologist best known as one of Google's earliest infrastructure engineers (employee ~#21, 1999–2005), the co-founder of ImageShack and yfrog.com, and the CEO of X1 Labs — the organization behind XEN Crypto. His career spans two decades of building at internet scale, from image hosting infrastructure serving MySpace and Twitter to community-driven blockchain projects designed to democratize crypto education.
Jack Levin met Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Google in 1999, joining as one of the company's earliest infrastructure engineers. He worked there from 1999 to 2005, helping build the foundational systems of one of the world's most consequential technology companies. After leaving Google, Levin co-founded ImageShack.com and yfrog.com — image hosting platforms that became a core piece of the early social web. At peak, ImageShack reached 60 million monthly unique visitors, managed 5 billion images, and served as the primary image delivery infrastructure for both MySpace and Twitter (via yfrog.com). The platform had 35 million subscribers and was at one point among the top 20 websites in the United States.
Levin is currently CEO of X1 Labs, the organization behind XEN Crypto — a community-driven blockchain project built on the principle of economic freedom and crypto education. XEN was designed to be accessible to everyday people, with a four-person team that grew a community of over one million participants.
